Plant Engineer – Fort Erie

Siltech Corporation, a Canadian owned global provider of organo-functional silicone specialties, is looking to hire immediately a full time, permanent Plant Engineer for our new Fort Erie Plant, a state-of-the-art, 200,000+ square foot manufacturing facility expected to be online in 2025.

This position will initially train at our Toronto and Mississauga plants for 1-2 months and then relocate to the Fort Erie area where the incumbent will:

  • support the Project Manager with the coordination and safety supervision of process installation subcontractor’s activities including piping and equipment installation and Electrical/Instrumentation wiring;
  • witness and verify testing/certification of process piping and controls;
  • conduct startup and commissioning of individual processes and equipment.

Once the plant is in full operation, the Plant Engineer will coordinate and implement all plant engineering activities required for a smooth operation of the plant including:

  • ensuring compliance with all municipal, provincial, and federal personal health/safety and environmental regulations;
  • ensuring compliance with health and safety aspects of corporate policies and procedures;
  •  

  • introducing and managing the CAR Seal Maintenance Program;
  • creating preventative maintenance programs and schedules;
  • overseeing capital projects installation and cost tracking;
  • preparing mechanical drawings, piping layouts, bill of materials and installation;
  • coordinating contractors on site and ensure work meets design documents and Siltech requirements;
  • creating SOP’s for new activities and equipment and update existing equipment SOP’s as required;
  • identifying critical part inventories for new equipment;
  • supporting the maintenance team by analyzing equipment operation/failures;
  • carrying out site safety inspections and audits in co-operation with corporate Safety Supervisor (e.g. HAZOP’s);
  • conducting operator and employee training as required;
  • preparing detailed plans and coordinate the annual maintenance shutdown;
  • coordinating the transfer of products from Toronto/Mississauga plants to Fort Erie.
  • Knowledge required

    1. As a minimum, a Chemical Engineering degree.
    2. Ontario Professional Engineering Certification (P-ENG).
    3. 2+ years’ experience desired in the chemical industry and plant maintenance.
    4. Capable of interpreting technical drawings.
    5. Critical/logical thinking and decision making.
    6. Superior communication skills.
    7. Excellent ability to manage pressure and multitask.
    8. Must be computer literate with working knowledge of a Windows environment (Word, Excel) and (AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio. are required).
    9. Familiar with:
      • OHSA
      • WSIB
      • Workplace emergency safety procedures
      • Technical Safety and Standards Authority

    The successful candidate lives in or is willing to relocate to the Niagara Region.
