Plant Engineer – Toronto

Siltech Corporation, a Canadian owned Chemical company, is looking to hire immediately a full time, permanent Plant Engineer for our Toronto Plant.

Reporting to the Corporate Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will coordinate plant maintenance activities including creating preventative maintenance schedules and breakdown analysis. This position coordinates assigned project installation (expense and capital projects) including the preparation of mechanical drawings, piping layouts, bill of materials and installation.

Main Duties

  1. Support maintenance team to analyze equipment operation / failures / replacements.
  2. Troubleshooting of system when failures have been identified.
  3. Maintain and develop plant drawings, standards and procedures.
  4. Identify critical equipment/components and maintain critical component inventories/ supply relationships.
  5. Project manager for projects with minimal support
    1. P&ID validations.
    2. Preliminary process design support work.
    3. Contractor and permit auditing.
    4. Capital project support including contractor supervision.
    5. Equipment installation and startup.
  6. Work in compliance with OH&S Act & Regulations.
  7. An integral part of annual maintenance shutdown activities.

Knowledge required

  1. Chemical or Mechanical Engineer degree required; PEO eligible
  2. 7-10 years Chemical Plant Experience
  3. Experience with process and utility piping installations
  4. Detailed knowledge of rotating equipment (Agitators, Pumps, Compressors) and subcomponents; Bearings, mechanical seals, shafts, etc…
  5. Layout experience for pipe routing from P&ID
  6. Microsoft Office – Intermediate Level
  7. Thorough understanding of trades activities and capabilities
