Electrical & Instrumentation Technician – Mississauga

Siltech Corporation, a Canadian-owned Chemical company, is looking to hire immediately 1 full time, permanent Electrical & Instrumentation Technician for our Mississauga facility.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor (M), the E/I Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and safe operation of instrumentation, electrical systems and equipment including the computerized control system.

Main Duties:

  1. Electrical system troubleshooting and repairs, PLC and DCS panel I/O layout and wiring assignments, component level repair, etc.
  2. PLC ladder logic programming and DCS control strategy programming, DCS graphics design for operator interface displays.
  3. Calibration of:
    • Instruments (detectors, analyzers, gauges, sensors, indicators and recorders)
    • test equipment
  4. Instrumentation:
    • repairs and restorations
    • specification for projects
    • set up and commissioning of
  5. Interpret and create:
    • electrical schematics
    • instrument loop drawings
    • Forms for testing and calibration of equipment.
  6. Maintenance and repair of security cameras, DVR and security access system.
  7. Inspects, repairs, installs, modifies and maintains electrical equipment
  8. Ensures the plant is in compliance with all codes related electrical regulations
  9. ISO 9001 file and documentation maintenance; orders for stock, replacement and new installations.

Knowledge Required:

  1. Post Secondary diploma/certifications in related field (i.e. Instrumentation Technician Diploma), 447A is desirable
  2. Possess current electrician license, 442A or 309A
  3. Good knowledge of equipment specifications and how they work
  4. Knowledge of industrial electrics, instrumentation, mechanical repair procedures, pipe fittings.
  5. Knowledge of Canadian Government legal requirements, i.e. Electrical classification
  6. Safe maintenance practices in a chemical environment.

Essential Work Experience (Number of years in related work experience):

  1. 5 years in a maintenance environment, preferably in a chemical production plant.
